Highlights

The global trend of utilization and technology in the financial services industry is rapidly growing, and especially in the context impacted by the pandemic, this trend is even more obvious in the past 12 to 18 months.
EY, as one of the major professional services providers in Hong Kong, witnesses the development of technology utilization and innovation being implemented across the industry. There is different unique characteristic exhibited of technology implementation in the respective sector of incumbent banks, virtual banks and stored value facilities, and they face both common and specific challenges in this journey.
In the 90-minute seminar provided by EY HK, two of the financial service sector partners will share their insights and thoughts on the status quo and future prospect of the technology dominance in the city’s financial services industry.
Miss Jasmine Lee will provide a brief description of the existing technology utilization landscape of the respective three sectors of financial services entities. She will also share specific case studies as reference for our audiences to facilitate relevant further discussion. Jasmine will also highlight some of the major challenges which are faced by the industry practitioners and how they are tackling them.
Mr Samuel Lung will focus on providing our audiences an overview of the basic technology means and tools being used in the regulatory compliance in the financial service industry. He will bring to us some useful and inspiring cases that he encounters in his daily work with the relevant technology experts and the underlying concepts that can be of use to us for consideration in our future implementation.

Ms. Jasmine Lee, Partner, Financial Services, Head of Chinese and local accounts / Lead of GBA committee - FSO, EY

Jasmine is the Head of Chinese and local accounts in Financial Services Office of Ernst & Young Hong Kong. She has over 25 years of experience in the provision of a range of comprehensive professional services to financial services companies in both Hong Kong and China. Jasmine has stationed in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou for more than 10 years during her career. She develops extensive understanding of the operation of Chinese financial institutions (FIs) and the Mainland regulatory environment and development over these years. Jasmine is responsible for developing and expanding services and product offerings of EY Hong Kong Financial Services Office to the sector of Chinese background FIs in Hong Kong and Macau. In addition, Jasmine is one of the lead partners in the EY China Overseas Investment Network actively linking up China based FIs with the rest of the globe in the arena of outbound investment and acquisition.

Jasmine is the Lead Partner for Virtual Banking Sector for EY FSO HK. She leads her team of experts in providing full range of professional services to the virtual banks and develops deep knowledge in this sector.

Currently, Jasmine is the lead partner for financial services in the GBA committee in EY HK. She leads her team of experts in formulating the strategies in capturing the vast opportunities in the GBA area, as well as positioning EY to be the leading professional service provider in addressing the dynamic needs of our market and industry participants. She also sits on the GBA committee in the HKICPA.

Recently Jasmine has taken up the role of Macau financial services leader and is expanding the footprint of EY FSO in Macau in the professional services arena for different financial institutions. Jasmine maintains close communication with regulators including HKMA, SFC and AMCM.

 

Mr. Samuel Lung, Partner, Financial Services Business Consulting, EY

Samuel Lung is a Partner of EY, leading the Greater China financial services consulting practice. He provides professional advices to the financial institutions in Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area covering almost all types of risk including his expertise in AML, KYC, anti fraud as well as sanctions compliance and drives FCC transformation in the financial sector. Prior to joining EY, he held senior management roles in different financial institutions including the Chief Operating Officer and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Commerzbank and also key management roles in Citibank, Credit Suisse and HSBC, where he was responsible for managing governance, regulatory and financial crime compliance advisory, regulatory filings and handling regulatory onsite and offsite reviews, etc..

He is a Member of the Hong Kong Academy of Finance ( AoF ) and a member of the Greater China Council for CPA Australia. He is sitting in the Advisory Board of the Association of Blockchain Compliance Profession and he also sat in the Board of Trustees in the International Association of Gaming Advisors. For pro bono, he is a guest lecturer of the LLM degree programme in Compliance and Regulations in the University of Hong Kong.

In recent years, he is developing new business areas in Fintech, Regtech and Arttech . He works closely with ASTRI Hong Kong and the Regtech Association of Hong Kong.
