COVID-19 pandemic brings in various issues to the society. Owing to this, Financial Service Development Council has recently introduced Financial Industry Recruitment Scheme for Tomorrow (FIRST) to accounting profession. All CPA firms, particularly SMPs can be benefited from it. In this webinar, Dr. Au will share with participants more details about FIRST and how CPA firms can apply for it.

Also, Dr. Au will share his perspective how CPAs can contribute to financial services such as ESG, Family Office and Fintech which are upcoming focuses in financial industry. Mr. Frank Lam will also share his point of view from practitioner.

Anti-money laundering has been an important topic in financial service for several years and should just become more important in future. Mr. Webster Ng, who has been deeply involved in this area, would like to talk issues for SME on compliance and how SMPs can provide support.

Au King-lun

Dr Au King-lun is currently the Executive Director of the Financial Service Development Council (FSDC).

Prior to joining the FSDC, he was President of Value Partners Group Limited. Dr Au also served as CEO of Eastspring Investments (Hong Kong) Limited and CEO of BOCHK Asset Management Limited. He also held various senior management positions at other financial institutions including Baring, GMO and HSBC Global Asset Management. Dr Au was named CEO of the Year in Hong Kong by Asia Asset Management in 2012 and 2014. He was awarded the Medal of Honor by the HKSAR Government in 2008 for his valuable contributions to the securities and asset management industry.

In addition, Dr Au was the Chairman of the Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute (HKSI) from 2006 to 2008 and the Chairman of the Hong Kong Investment Funds Association in 2004/2005. Dr Au is currently serving as a Council member of the Hong Kong Institute of Chartered Public Accountants and an Index Advisory Committee member of China Securities Index Co., Limited among other public services.

Dr Au is a CFA Charterholder and a Senior Fellow of HKSI. He received his BA in Physics from the University of Oxford and PhD in Theoretical Particle Physics from the University of Durham.

Mr. Webster NG
Being the proprietor and founder of Webster Ng & Co., Mr. Ng is a fellow Certified Public Accountant (Practising). He is currently the Vice-President of the Taxation Institute of Hong Kong (TIHK) and President of Hong Kong Institute of Accredited Accounting Technicians Limited (HKIAAT), as well as the Council Member of The Society of Chinese Accountants and Auditors (SCAA) and . Mr. Ng is member of Taxation Policy Committee of TIHK and has been awarded as Honorary Council member of the China Certified Tax Agents Association (CCTAA).

Mr. Frank Lam
Frank is the Director of Assurance Services and Leader of Family Office of BDO Hong Kong. He has over 20 years of audit experience with listed and initial public offering (IPO) clients operating in a variety of industries as well as merger & acquisition exercises in Hong Kong, mainland China, Southeast Asia, Europe and United States of America. He is currently a member of Branding and Communication Advisory Panel of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) and a member of Small and Medium Practices Committee of the HKICPA.

Mr. Kim Man Wong

Mr. Kim Man Wong  is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Hong Kong Electric Investments. He has over 30 years of experience in financial management and accounting in Hong Kong and other countries. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Business Administration. He is also a member of HKICPA.

He has actively involved in accounting education and professional development all these years. He is currently the Chairman of Accountancy Advisory Board of Lingnan University. He is also a Panel Convenor of the Financial Reporting Review Panel of Financial Reporting Council.
