All companies treasure a positive bank relationship, which provides essential transactional services and helps the business to grow, manage its risks and bring cost and productivity benefits. How do we build an optimal banking relationship to support our businesses and discharge our functional duties? How do we enhance our credit positions with our relationship banks?

In this seminar, we try to identify the essential elements of a successful banking relationship to support businesses and share some best practices and practical issues in managing this important role of all finance and accounting managers.

Ivy Chan, Chief Risk Officer, Hang Seng Bank

Ms. Ivy Chan has been Chief Risk Officer and a member of the Executive Committee of Hang Seng Bank since 2014. Since joining HSBC in 1988, Ms. Chan has had over 30 years of general banking experience, primarily in the wholesale area, with the last 22 years specialized in risk management. She graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University receiving a Professional Diploma in Company Secretary and Administration.

Kim Man Wong, Chief Financial Officer, Hong Kong Electric Investments

Mr. Kim Man Wong is currently the Chief Financial Officer of Hong Kong Electric Investments. He has over 30 years of experience in financial management and accounting in Hong Kong and other countries. He holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Business Administration. He is a member of HKICPA. Having been involved in accounting education and professional development for many years, Mr. Wong is currently the Chairman of Accountancy Advisory Board of Lingnan University and the Chairman of Professional Development Committee of HKICPA. He is also a Panel Convenor of the Financial Reporting Review Panel of Financial Reporting Council.

Edward Yuen, Director, ADF

Mr. Edward Yuen is currently a private investor after a professional career in regional finance and accounting of over 25 years including being the Controller of Morgan Stanley Asia, Area Finance Director of Pepsi-cola International and CFO of Hsin Chong Construction Group. He is a member of HKICPA and SCAA and received his M.B.A. from University of California, Berkeley and M.Sc. from University of Science & Technology.

Alec Tong, Partner, Jupiter Capital Ltd

Mr. Alec Tong is a Chartered Accountant qualified with KPMG in London and is currently involved in private equity investments. He has been the Group Finance Director of Dairy Farm, Jardine Pacific and Zung Fu covering business operations in many Asian countries, and the Group Treasurer of Jardine Matheson. Mr. Tong is a member of the Qualification and Examinations Board, Professional Accountants in Business Committee and Professional Development Committee of HKICPA. He is also an Adjunct Professor at The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School.
