(Source: Investopedia). What does this “Private Equity” definition means to an accountant? This seminar will start with an overview on Private Equity as an “alternative investment”. The guest speaker will also highlight the common Private Equity fund strategies and how Private Equity could help at different stages of company growth. The guest speaker will also provide a highlight on “Private Equity essentials” including, how Private Equity contrasts to traditional asset managers, the industry’s peculiar “Return J-Curve”, typical fund structure and deal structure. These could help participants to better understand (1) how to assess capability of Private Equity managers, and (2) how Private Equity manager evaluates an investment opportunity. This discussion could provide additional insights to seminar participants who would like to (1) invest in Private Equity funds and / or (2) raise Private Equity financing. The guest speaker will further share a closer look into the Private Equity investment process. This could help the professional accountant participants to further explore how they could bring value to the Private Equity industry. This could be interesting for accountant who would like to pursue career in Private Equity sector. About the Speaker: Mr Vincent Chang is a Chartered Accountant and started his accounting and financial management career in the 90s with the Hong Kong office of an international accounting firm (Andersen). Vincent specialized in private equity funds management and started his private equity career by working with Citi Private Equity/CVC Asia Pacific for 7 years as Associate Finance Director and China Investment Manager. During his Citi tenure, Vincent established two joint venture private equity funds. Vincent subsequently joined Deutsche Bank Capital Partners as Business Area Controller leading its Greater China, Australia, Japan, and India private equity operations. Vincent started his real estate funds management career upon joining AIG Global Real Estate as Regional Finance Director in 2003 and established AIG’s Asia Pacific real estate investment fund. In 2013, Vincent left JPMorgan Asset Management Global Real Assets where he worked for 6 years as Executive Director. During Vincent’s JPMorgan tenure, on top of his deal execution, pre-acquisition due diligence and post-investment integration role for the portfolio companies, Vincent also focused at US regulatory compliance, corporate governance, investor relations management. Currently, Vincent is a director of the Hong Kong Private Equity Finance Association. He is also a consultant advising corporations on formulation and implementation of corporate strategies. Vincent also advise private equity and real estate funds sponsors on establishment, operations, M&A, deal execution, exit mechanism and post-investment integration.
