However, failures are not extraordinary in business reality and people shall be able to apply appropriate strategies when challenges are emerged. Restructuring and insolvency are not only unpleasant procedures. To financially distressed companies, restructuring is a cost-effective regime to rescue a company from being wound up by its creditors while insolvency is a kind of process bringing up freshness. To investor perspective, restructuring and insolvency offer genuine business opportunities if you can manage the inherent and procedural risks. In this seminar, the speakers will guide you through a general restructuring process with emphasis on the key challenges at each stage. Relevant and important accounting implications about corporate restructuring will also be discussed. About the speakers: Mr Wilfred Wu started his career in one of the leading international accounting firms and has over 15 year experience in various specialist advisory engagements, including valuation, litigation support, due diligence and corporate restructuring. Wilfred has performed numerous valuation and expert reports for litigation and commercial evaluation purpose, and acted as an expert witness in a white collar criminal case. Wilfred is an all-rounded professional accountant. On the commercial side, Wilfred was once the Chief Financial Officer of a financial service group listed in Hong Kong and supervised the full range of financial management, regulatory and compliance matter. Prior to joining Briscoe Wong Ferrier, he has been the Director of Specialist Advisory Service of a leading international accounting firm. He has solid and extensive exposures in the areas of finance and accounting, forensic accounting, corporate finance, and insolvency throughout the Asian region. Wilfred is a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Ms Nichole Chan has more than 10 year experience in corporate restructuring and insolvency. She has been involved in financial reviews and viability analysis assignments aimed at advising financially troubled companies. She has also assisted these companies in managing their operations, acting in an interim management capacity. She has also assisted financially troubled companies in formulating alternative debt restructuring plans and negotiated with their creditors in relation to proposed debt restructurings. She has formulated and executed various corporate restructuring and recovery exercises for private enterprises including performance and financial analysis, profit and cash flow forecasts, asset and business valuation. She also acted as a liquidator for a number of Hong Kong companies in various industries. Prior to joining Briscoe Wong Ferrier, a specialist corporate restructuring, insolvency and forensic accounting firm, Nichole worked for a leading US investment bank focusing on advising Hong Kong corporate clients in relation to capital optimisation, cash flow management and hedging strategies with in-house credit-related and rates-related financial instruments.
