Highlights

In December 2025, the Accounting and Finance Reporting Council (AFRC) published a consultation paper on Hong Kong's proposed regulatory framework for sustainability assurance. During the webinar, experts will discuss HKEX's ESG code developments and Chinese Mainland ESG regulatory trends. The focus will be on addressing assurance requirements, enhancing transparency, and aligning regional efforts with global standards to help companies navigate evolving compliance challenges effectively.

Mr Cyrus Cheung, Partner, Consulting - Sustainability, PwC Hong Kong

Cyrus is a partner with nearly 20 years of experience in the Assurance and Sustainability Consulting services practices at PwC Hong Kong. He has extensive experience in assurance, capital market transactions, accounting advisory, internal control advisory, corporate governance advisory, risk management advisory, and ESG advisory. 

Cyrus has broad assurance experience with companies of varying scales, from start-ups to blue-chip conglomerates. He was involved in the initial public offering for over 10 companies, including Budweiser, which was Hong Kong’s second-largest IPO by funds raised in 2019, as well as multiple mergers and acquisitions for clients in Hong Kong, Mainland China, and overseas.

Cyrus specializes in sustainability advisory, corporate governance, risk management, internal controls, and assurance. He assists clients in adopting reporting frameworks such as the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards, and the ESG Code published by the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. He provides clients with solutions and recommendations on ESG risk assessment frameworks, governance structures, and control procedures. Cyrus has extensive experience in assisting companies with formulating their ESG strategies, developing GHG inventories, and setting relevant KPIs (including science-based targets), grasping green and sustainable finance opportunities, conducting stakeholder engagement and materiality assessments, improving ESG performance and ratings (e.g., MSCI, Dow Jones Sustainability Index, CDP), and conducting ESG data assurance. Cyrus also leads the adoption of ESRS for companies with headquarters in the Asia Pacific region.

Cyrus has delivered over 100 professional training sessions and provided sustainability advice to companies from various sectors, including real estate, infrastructure, construction, manufacturing, port operations, logistics, conglomerates, and others.
